Continuing printing collagraphs

I’ve managed to squeeze in enough time for another couple of prints in my collagraph series.  So far I’ve done 2 trials (posted here) and here are the next 2:

Trial 3:

Trial 4:

So much better ink coverage than the first two.  Once plates have been inked a few times they seem to print so much better.  Must retain some oil and residue that continues to transfer perhaps.

Yes, they’re still looking weird and discordant at this point.  Eventually, the project will come together into what I hope will be something very unique.

    Some lovely textures here!

I’ve now made some new plates to define the line-work better. I’m not so keen on the ‘smudgy’ areas so am trying something along similar lines but with a bit of a crisper outcome.

Looking forward to seeing the final result. I have learned that yellow is not always a great color for printing on its own, but is great when printing in layers.

I agree about yellow looking not so great on its own. I’m currently experimenting with something a little more pleasing to the eye, a Cad Red Dark with a smidge of black added. Stunning colour, and used alongside some orange should give a better result.
