Creating chine collé

Using the stencil I made and showed in my last post, along with a selection of other stencils/masks, I created a stash of chine collé sheets on semi-translucent deli paper.

These were done using different printing methods and you can see in the top right image where the deli paper creased as the acrylic paint dried on the surface. In this case I feel it adds to the effect.

Layering stencils and masks, using both the positive and negative space, and taking ghost prints can quickly create a good range of different but related outcomes.

The stencil used above reminds me of the bulbous kelp I often see at the beach. I posted images here.

This is just a sample of the sheets I made over several days. There are about 30 in all, with some being very faint, very ghostly, and others barely registering marks within the colour rolling but all will be useful in creating a variety of effects on my pages.

These will be fabulous, I particularly like the chains of pods, looks like undersea. Just wondering where do you get your deli paper from Claire?

Hi Jo, I get my deli paper from Amazon Australia but I’m sure they are available in all countries. I buy the flat ones without the box and crease down the middle. The description says: Deli Squares – Paper Sheets (12″ x 12″) (Plain – 250 Sheets). That should help you find them.
Yes, I like the pods as well. I’m currently doing a design course so should, eventually, be able to design the types of things I like more quickly and easily.
